Harp Escape for the Darkest Days

We are in the darkest time of a very challenging year. As we enter this winter season, we celebrate the light within and travel to inward time. Harp Escape taps into an old use of music, used as sound healing for your self care. Sufi mystic, Hazrat Inayat Khan said “The use of music for spiritual attainment and healing of the soul, which was prevalent in ancient times, is not found to the same extent now. Music has been made a pastime…”

Join me on Patreon for Harp Escape’s Meditative audio recordings, sheet music and more. Once a month, I bring you high quality Meditative Harp Music audio recordings (ranging from 25-55 minutes), a Relaxing Music Video from my harp studio and places in nature, and sheet music arrangements. All of this music is recorded intentionally for you to find a relaxing space for meditation and mindful daily ritual, for you to take a break from the demands of your life and breath deeply, while listening to the healing sounds of the harp’s vibrations.

Harp Escape vol. 11 was recorded in part from my harp studio and in Eastern Washington, along the Methow River.

December Meditative Harp Music audio is a colorful collection of holiday songs like White Christmas, Blue Christmas, and Silver & Gold. If Christmas songs aren’t your thing, you can skip the recording near the end and enjoy Claude Debussy’s Reverie and a Pink Floyd cover. You’ll have to join as a member to listen to December; however, the previous month’s recording has been made public for you to listen to here.

Historically, I’ve not been one to celebrate the New Year on January 1st. To me, that’s just a calendar date. I prefer to celebrate when the days get longer after December 22nd. Perhaps your New Year is the Winter Solstice too. Or maybe its Christmas, or January 1st, or February 12th (Chinese & Tibetan New Year)? Whatever the time for you is, I do hope you’ll be able to turn the page on 2020 in a celebrating ritual for you.

As you find your way into the New Year, let Harp Escape be your soundtrack to your personal rituals as you get ready for bed, practice yoga, meditate, pray, nap, read, spend time with close loved ones, or quietly read to yourself. This music is also created for you to sleep better. Calming music of this nature has been scientifically proven to increase deep breathing, which in turn increases blood flow, decreases stress, and promotes deeper sleep.

In the words of Pablo Neruda, “We need to sit on the rim of the well of darkness and fish for fallen light with patience.” May you find some light — inner light, fallen light, given light — in the New Year and may happiness and health return to us all.

  1. MLK said – “only when it is dark enough, can we see the stars.”

In the past year, many stars shone brightly …

Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, John Lewis, Ruth Bader Ginsburg

… and we witnessed the birth of a new young star, 22 year young poet laureate Amanda Gorman at the inauguration.
